Welcome to the NAVBLUE Employee Spotlight Feature!
We’ve created these stories with the goal of shining a spotlight on the pivotal role our employees play in the tech and aviation field, their journeys so far, and how NAVBLUE aims to create an innovative and inclusive workforce with their help.
Today we are sharing the story of Mavis Tay, Product Marketing Manager at NAVBLUE in Singapore. ✈️
Fun Fact
Did you know that she is at least 1cm taller in the morning than at night? Gravity and daily activities compresses the discs in between her vertebrae in the day, and during sleep, her spine decompresses.
Ps: It applies to anyone 😉
Hello Mavis! Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to NAVBLUE?
Hello! I started my journey in aviation as an Air Traffic Controller in Singapore Changi. I was largely influenced by my cousins growing up who were pilots and they shared many stories about flying. That really fascinated me. Later on, I moved to an airline in Singapore within the Network Planning department, before moving to NAVBLUE.
Being based in Singapore while working with teams in China, France, and beyond, what does a typical day look like for you as a Product Marketing Manager?
A typical day involves juggling between various timezones. I first logged on in the morning to connect with the Singapore, China and India team and customers. Reading up industry news and staying updated with market trends are also critical parts of our job. In the afternoon /evenings, I spend my time connecting with the central team.
What has surprised you most about the company or the way different regions collaborate within the aviation industry?
Most people here are genuine and eager to contribute. It is cool that while we may all have come from different backgrounds and cultures, the environment we foster is extremely supportive and collaborative!
How has your role at NAVBLUE, specifically acting as a bridge between different global regions, helped you grow both professionally and personally?
I can say that in all of my career, NAVBLUE provides me the most conducive environment to grow professionally and personally. My current role allows me to be the focal point in the region and be that bridge to central teams.
What advice would you give to someone who is looking to manage marketing projects or collaborate across diverse international teams?
I believe the key to collaborating across diverse international teams is communication and respecting diversity.
How would you describe the future of NAVBLUE in one word?
