We’re seeking an intermediate-senior Platform Engineer ready to lead the evolution of our aviation service platforms. In this role, you’ll take ownership of architecting state-of-the-art GitLab pipelines to automate complex delivery cycles and designing standardized AWS platform solutions that solve common challenges across the organization. You’ll serve as a developer advocate, partnering with engineering teams to promote cloud-native best practices and ensuring our technical ecosystem stays ahead of the curve through innovative reference implementations.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the design, deployment, and management of AWS infrastructure components (ECS, S3, RDS, Servless SQS/SNS) in alignment with internal cloud standards.
  • Develop Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation to support repeatable and secure deployments.
  • Monitor cloud environments for availability, performance, and security using AWS-native tools.
  • Collaborate with developers and DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and streamline cloud operations
  • Assist in managing cloud cost controls and propose optimizations to improve efficiency
  • Continuous evaluation of AWS infrastructure, and we must anticipate, plan and roll out updates to ensure continuity of service.
  • Understand the cost and usage implications of services developed and running on AWS infrastructure.
  • You will optimize usage patterns and recommend improvements including but not limited to AWS quotas, financial costs, idling and scalability and services design.

Must Haves:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development.
  • Have designed, developed, launched and maintained services with tight cloud infrastructure integration.
  • Ideally, holding certification as an AWS Cloud Practitioner or AWS Certified Developer or be willing to earn certification within the first year at NAVBLUE (supported and funded by NAVBLUE).
  • You have a College Diploma or Bachelor's Degree within the software engineering area of study or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent communication in English

At NAVBLUE our software development teams are formed around a matrixed organization consisting of Tribes and Chapters. Team members belong to a Chapter, in which skills, competencies, and standards are owned, solidified, and grown.  They are also members of a Squad (scrum team) where they utilize those skills and competencies to support the Tribe in the production and delivery of quality software.
